| Welcome to A Brush with History!
This is my on-line portfolio of work which deals mostly with historical subject matter. I inherited my love of history from my mother who always seemed to plan family vacations around some historic site. Somehow those early encounters with the physical reminders of earlier times captured my imagination and continue to even now.
The history books and stories I read as a kid often contained thrilling illustrations done by such masters as Howard Pyle, Dean Cornwell, N.C. Wyeth, Norman Rockwell and Tom Lovell. The Civil War sketches of Winslow Homer and Alfred Waud captured action which the cameras of the day couldn’t. All of them sparked an interest in art that has never left me.
After a couple of career changes, I was able to find work as a graphic artist and am committed to centering my life work around creative endevours. Frequently, I marry my two favorite subjects together which explains the name chosen for this website. Please enjoy browsing here and, as always, don’t hesitate to contact me with project ideas or questions.
Enjoy.
